Taqueria del Sol- Yes Please

2165 Cheshire Bridge Road, Atlanta or 359 W. Ponce de Leon Avenue
Decatur, GA

This Southern, Mexican infused masterpiece blends the convenience of a taco stand with the quality ingredients you can only hope for. Don't let the long lines detour you, they move fast and it's well worth the small wait.  If the delicious food and nicest staff around wasn't enough, you'll pee your pants with excitement when you see the prices.  Best fish tacos around under $3 bucks kiss that other Dirty Bell place goodbye!

Fish Tacos from the Gods-Tilapia dipped in an egg wash, rolled in corn masa and bread crumbs and deep-fried. Served with poblano tartar sauce and pickled jalapeƱos.

Memphis-Chopped smoked pork with a spicy jalapeƱo coleslaw and tequila BBQ sauce.
Shrimp Chowder- this creamy, almost soothing chowder hits and nourishes all the right spots.  I recommend this to every and any body.

Delicious Margaritas!  I prefer mine frozen, with that first sip, you can taste the top shelf liquor in its frozen perfection.
Honestly everything on the menu is great though, you couldnt go wong really.  Only sucky thing is their times, they close at 2 and open back at 5 during the week and are closed on Sundays.  Check the schedule before you head down there so yum

Los Loros Mexican Restaurant 1, 2 FLOOR MARGARITAS

Los Loros Mexican Restaurant- 1248 Clairmont Rd Decatur, GA

A great little spot only minutes away from Emory.  Every time I drive pass, I notice the many hammer faced, dazed confusion looks of the drunkers on the patio.  Well this week I decided to join the elite lush group and have me a pineapple margarita.  HOLY TEQUILA!!  The bartender sure has a heavy hand, these $3 dollar bad boys sure hold a heavy punch and go oh so well with the endless chips and salsa.

Portions are huge especially for the price.  If you're trying to watch your waistline, stay clear of this spot as everything is loaded with a mound of cheese and/or sour cream.  The meals are only about $5-7.50 for the lunch menu, but you will fall asleep when you get back your office (the itis)

You have got to dip your chips in the refried beans,if you get them, with a dollop of salsa so yum.  On the appetizer menu, they have a shrimp quesdilla TRY IT!  The quality of the shrimp is so good and so cheap at about $4.25 but borders on a salt overload.  Its big enough to be a meal.

If you want a quick decent and oh so cheap meal head over to Decatur's little secret of Los Loros, you'll be glad you did.

Let me croak & go to Kilwins

Kilwins is a sweet piece of sugar heaven in a beautiful brown box in the middle of Atlantic Station, 1380 Atlantic Drive, Suite 14250 Atlanta, GA 30363.  It makes the strictest of dieters want to grab a caramel apple to argue that it is indeed apart of the a balanced diet.

On the weekends you can expect to find some pretty talented artists playing for patrons as they enter their sugar coma.  On Saturday night the violinist played for my mom as the entire place sung Happy Birthday for my mom, it was pretty amazing.

The homemade ice cream is amazing even though its a bit on the pricey side, its worth every penny, your ass will curse you at a later date for it. You have to at least go over to the glass cases and have a small sample, you wont be disappointed. I'm not a huge fudge fan but with every flavor from peanut butter, cookies and cream or just plain chocolate Kilwins never disappoints.

The owner of this location is about one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.  Every person that he encounters feels so welcome and instantly becomes a piece of toffee in the Kilwins family.

Rosa Mexicano is a Hella-Nooo

If taste was based on decor, then Rosa Mexicano would be delicious but unfortunately it isn't. Located at: 245 18th Street Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30363 in the heart of Atlantic Station, Zagat must have been drunk off the Pomegrante margaritas when they gave them a try.  The bold mexican taste that they promise is nowhere to be found.  The quality of the food is pretty embrassing especially for the prices they are offered at.

I do however believe in dishing out credit where it is due, please give a round of applause for this bowl of green mush heaven also known as Guacamole en Molcajete

Its pretty damn good as they bring all the ingredients tableside and go to work.    The avacodas are such buttery goodness its borderline sinful. The contrast of the fresh cilantro, onion, jalapeno and tomatoes are the pure perfection.  They then serve it in the cutest lava mortar (he smiles at you).

When it comes to entrees there is a lot left to be desired.

Vegetales a la Brasa- Skillet Roasted Vegetables = I dont believe that anyone should ever pay $25 dollars for Wal-Mart's frozen mixed vegetables.  They might have ran out of veggies that evening but should have at least warned the hungry gremlins awaiting something delicious.  The steamed carrots in the uniform cube shape, peas and corn niblets they pass off as the vegetarian entree makes the best of the vegans run for a burger.

Tostadas de Huachinago- Red Snapper Tostadas=  MENTIONS NOTHING ABOUT BEING RAW!!!  Presentation was visually appetizing.

Salmon en Manchamanteles- Salmon Filet with Tropical Fruit Mole-  The taste was pretty bland, I definitely expected more.  I could have stayed home for a better tasting salmon.

Food wise, I'm extremely disappointed with the cuisine.  Thank god for good company and top shelf liquor.

MOM IS COMING TO TOWN!! Farmers market to the rescue

Tonight as I await the arrival of my mother, aunts and many siblings all I want to do is sleep!!  But no, to the kitchen I head to wrestle with mutant shrimp & scallops from the Dekalb Farmers Market.  If you live in the Atlanta-Decatur area you have got to go.  If not for the freakishly cold a/c, go for their delectable pineapple croissants,  or go and collect your fair share of evil glares that the live lobsters, crabs and fish are more than willing to give. Its like they know you want to eat their flesh in a succulent butter truffle sauce of some sort (damn telepathic crustaceans).  You can find it at, 3000 E Ponce De Leon Ave Decatur, Georgia 30033, the link is www.dekalbfarmersmarket.com/.  I would have added pictures for ya but they are very anti-cameras there for some reason (the blackberry will be coming to the rescue).  Best thing is their closing time (insert song here) security guards come dragging  in their AK47s telling you "MA'AM PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE TURNIPS OR ELSE".  Definitely worth the while.
